That was the best time I think I've ever had at a movie. Very funny and good vibe in the theater. Director and "Dale" interview afterwards. Fascinating stuff, I love hearing about people's success stories. I really hope they get distribution!

Here's what is brewing in my brain today - a plan is formulating:

* Sunshine and Warm Weather
* Lemonade & Vodka
* Fire

I found this so funny I had to share. It is kind of long but I was laughing the whole time.

Scream for me, Seattle

13. Take the dogs for a long walk at least once per week for 3 months (2/12) - Sunday before the zoo trip, PJ and I walked all three doggies. Everyone seemed to be extra low on energy which is weird.

42. Buy at least one new article of clothing per month (1/32) - I bought a sweater and some dance pants for the Adderstone performance on Wed.

67. Go to the zoo 3 times a year (1/9) - Sunday 1/10/10

Last night [livejournal.com profile] latromortis and I headed down to El Corazon for a New Model Army show. We leisurely made our way down since doors didn't open until 8pm. We arrived sometime after 8:30pm and still made it for the opening bands. I think opening bands should be required to have a sign with their name on it but many times they don't even say anything. The first band didn't leave an impression on me. The 2nd was pretty good. They say they have opened for New Model Army before, so I may have seen them and just don't remember. Their music reminded me of rowdy pirate songs and they did say that they will be on KEXP at 10pm on either Saturday or Sunday (can't remember which). They had an accordian which was sadly turned down too low to even hear most of the time. It amazes me how many venues suck at sound so bad to pretty much ruin shows. The Crocodile is another of those places. Anyway, I had fun listening to their stuff even though I don't know their name and the sound was terrible.

New Model Army was fun and I really do love Justin Sullivan's voice. It's even more engrossing in person. It still doesn't trump the time we saw them at the Tractor Tavern where it was a very small acoustic type show with minimal instruments and hand drums. That show really made an impact on me. But, I will say that every time I have been to see these guys I have had a blast. I highly recommend them. Check them out: http://www.newmodelarmy.org/ Read more... )

I may decide that self portraits are too big of a pain in the ass and take pictures of other stuff. Especially since we have so much Halloween that nobody ever really sees. I realize the pic's a bit blurry. Still trying to get used to all the settings on the fancy new camera. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] dragonstixx!

Last night's movie ended up being Shaun of the Dead instead of Dracula in preparation for our outing to see Zombieland Friday night. I love Simon Peg and if you haven't seen the series Spaced you should. It is crazy awesome! There were only 2 seasons which is a real bummer but so worthwhile.

Fall is creeping up on me so fast this year. I think it's because I wasn't quite finished with all the stuff I wanted to do for summer and the weather has been so fantastic; I haven't hit "hibernation" mode yet.

October is always a crazy month for me. It takes a lot of careful planning to get every last thing I want to accomplish done. I have an idea for my costume this year but for some reason I have yet to actually commit to it. I think I better just decide for sure and get started or it will fall short of expectations. It's going to be practically impossible to top last year, anyway.

I've got a couple of projects I want to work on and goals to achieve this year. I'm making myself a list (subject to change) so I can try to stay organized: Read more... )

Typhoid Mary

My troupe, Adderstone will be performing in Super Hero/Villain costumes. That's right. Scantily clad ladies kicking ass and taking names. Get your butt to this show. I'm telling you almost 2 months ahead of time so if I hear any whining about how tired you are or that you have gaming or that you don't feel good and wuss out, I might just hurt you....

I've decided that I am going to be Typhoid Mary from Daredevil. I'm thinking some version of the outfit on this action figure photo. Key points to the costume include: beat up fishnets, short skirt, lots of leather, and face painted half white. This should be fun! You don't want to miss it!

Zucchini Enchiladas
Originally uploaded by fleshcouldcrawl
Patrick and I decided to try something new tonight. We just harvested our very first zucchini from the garden and I knew we needed to try something crazy and awesome with it. I found the recipe here http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Bountiful-Garden-Zucchini-Enchiladas/Detail.aspx and modified it a bit. First I cooked up some zuchini, garlic, onions, green chiles, black beans*, and spices*. Set that aside and made the cheese sauce with some milk, butter, flour, spices, cheese, jalepenos* (from the garden!) and green chiles. I added a little of the cheese sauce to the zucchini mix and then filled the tortillas.

Once all the tortillas were rolled I covered them with the remaining cheese sauce. Baked it at 375 for about 20 minutes covered in foil. This warmed them up but didn't get the tortillas too crispy so you can cook to your liking. Once out of the oven I topped it with shredded cheese, chopped tomatoes (from the garden) and a dollop of sour cream. Oh my god they were so good!

* I added these ingredients to the recipe. I felt like it needed more bulk to feel like an enchilada and I was right - the black beans did the trick. I added a few more spices that I use for mexican dishes like cuman and paprika. Also, I mixed in some cheddar cheese mix with the rest of it for some variety. I added jalepenos to the cheese sauce for some spice but it wasn't very spicy at all. I think I would also add it to the zucchini mixture for an extra kick!

ETA: Link to her talking about the motion capture process: http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1670076655?bctid=30986010001

You will be able to "play" her on the new Guitar Hero.

Also, according to her facebook (I knew that had to be good for something!) she is getting back into music which seems to confirm reports that Garbage is getting back together to see what happens. Yay!
